Frequently Asked Questions
Is Agape part of a denomination?
No. The Agape Church of Christ is an autonomous church that is in fellowship with Churches of Christ congregations around the world who share and live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
What can I expect if I visit on a Sunday morning?
- A warm and genuine welcome
- A judgment-free environment
- A sermon that is 30 minutes or less and uplifting, biblical, and relevant
- A simple, participatory, and uplifting worship experience
- Communion (The Lord’s Supper) offered every Sunday
- A worship service lasting approximately 60 minutes
Are visitors expected to give?
Absolutely not. If you would like to give, you certainly can, but you will never be pressured or coerced.
What should I wear?
Agape is a “come as you are” group of believers. You’ll see jeans and t-shirts alongside dress shirts and ties. No need to dress up—unless you want to.
What is “Two Forty-Two” on Wednesday evenings?
Acts 2:42 tells us that the early church devoted themselves to teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread, and prayer. On Wednesday evenings we come together for a light meal, conversation, prayer, and Bible study.
Are there opportunities for learning outside the building?
Yes! We have small groups that meet in coffee shops and restaurants throughout the week. Email us at agapestjohns@yahoo.com for times and locations.
